    Beginner Tai Chi/Tai Chi for Arthritis (No prerequisite)

    This form is used as our Beginner form because of its suitability for most body types and conditions. It is for anyone who would like to improve their balance, coordination, and relaxation of the body with the side benefit of improving symptoms of Arthritis.

    Based on the Sun style of tai chi, this program was designed by Dr. Paul Lam to benefit those who have Arthritis. It is endorsed by the Arthritis Foundation, and numerous medical studies have proven its effectiveness at helping Arthritis symptoms.

    Beginner Qigong – Ba Duan Jin

    Ba Duan Jin Qigong is a traditional Chinese health and fitness routine that has been practiced since the Song Dynasty (960-1279). There are many variations to this practice. The version taught in this class is one that has been compiled by the Chinese Health Qigong Association as part of its Chinese Health Qigong series.

    Introduction to Tai Chi & Qigong

    In a world where life moves very quickly, and information comes at us from every direction, it’s essential to find balance by slowing down and filtering out what is not truly useful.

    Tai Chi and Qigong are methods that balance our energy fields and train the body to move in the way that it was designed to. Benefits include stress reduction, increased flexibility, better balance, increased energy and clarity, and reduction in chronic pain from conditions such as Arthritis, and Fibromyalgia.

    Yang Style 8 Form (No prerequisite)

    Mainly practiced for its health benefits, Yang Style is currently the most popular style of Tai Chi. The simplified 8 form establishes a good foundation while requiring only a small space to practice. This low impact exercise stimulates both the brain and the body and is proven to improve strength, balance, and coordination. It is also a gentle and effective way to reduce stress.

    Yang Style 16 Form (Prerequisite: Yang Style 8 Form)

    This class is a natural progression from the 8 form. The Yang Style 16 Forms class reviews the 8 Form and introduces new postures.

    24 Form (Prerequisite: Yang Style 8 and 16 Forms)

    In 1956, the Chinese Sports Committee created this “short” form of tai chi. Containing postures from the traditional Yang Family Style 103 Form, the 24 Form is a simplified version that introduces the principles of Tai Chi. This is a standardized form and is used in competition. In this class the 8 and 16 Forms will be reviewed and new postures will be introduced.

    Forms Refinement (Ba Duan Jin, 8, 16, 24)

    Ongoing refinement class for those who have learned the choreography and wish to deepen their practice.

    This class is being offered only through private lessons at this time.

    Kungfu Fan (Prerequisite: 24 Form)

    Created by Grandmaster Li Deyin in 2001 in support of the Beijing 2008 Olympics, 52 form kungfu fan has become the most popular form of fan in China. It incorporates elements of kungfu, taiji, and weapons, and is a display of strength mixed with grace. Pre-requisite: 24 Form. Maximum 8 participants
